Match ferry arrival to the train departure or your drive. Leave room for disembarkation and a possible delay, especially when booking separate tickets.
Via Belfast
Allow time to travel up from Dublin and reach Belfast’s ferry terminal. Night sailings may change which date you reach Birkenhead.
What if a sailing is delayed?
Summer traffic and weather can affect arrival and check-in times, but there is no reliable fixed “peak season delay” to add to every crossing. Watch the operator’s live sailing updates on your travel day and give separate rail tickets a generous buffer.
